The Value of One

May 14, 2012

One week. A powerful seven days at Ft. Caswell for UNCP’s LeaderShape.

One blog post to reflect. This will be the first of many.

One bus ride to break the ice with strangers.

One wrong turn on the beach to get the heart racing and to form a lasting bond.

One story and a realization that it was the first time I told mine outloud.

One day, seven students. How quickly they became my “family.”

One. The name of the amendment that was passed in North Carolina on May 8, 2012.

One dream. Dr. King still inspires us to imagine a world where hate does not exist.

One courageous voice demonstrating The Power of One.

One notebook filled with scribbles about passion, vision, and hope.

One sunrise, a reminder that somehow we are all connected.

One song to inspire others to get up and move.

One note to make me smile and turn the day around.

One shared vision to spark inspiration and the validation to pursue it.

One common bond shared between people from all walks of life.

One. Each of these things alone, has value. But all of these small things, all of these wonderful people– together they can change the world.
